Montclair, NJ – The Montclair State University volleyball team will honor their two seniors KATIE RODMAN and RACHEL CURRAN before facing off with NJAC foe Rutgers-Newark for a Thursday night tilt.

LAST TIME OUT
Montclair notched their sixth-straight win when they went on the road and swept Ramapo, 3-0. The Red Hawks battled with the Roadrunners early, as the two sides were locked at 6-4 after the opening 10 points. Three consecutive kills from RACHEL CURRAN ballooned the lead to four, and Montclair eventually pushed the early advantage to five on another kill from Curran later in the frame. After Ramapo cut the margin to 14-11, the visitors notched six-straight points, led by two kills from CAMRYN MUUSS. Montclair built their largest advantage of the opening stanza on a kill from Curran at 22-14, who later closed the set at 25-17. Montclair kicked off the second set with five of the first six points, including two service aces from EMMA HATCHER. With the score 8-4, the visitors rattled off six consecutive points to push the advantage to nine. Three consecutive attack errors from the Roadrunners later pushed the Montclair lead to 11. BRYN BAUTISTA notched a pair of kills, and EMILY FERRI later capped off the set with a pair of her own to clinch the second frame at 25-19. For the second-straight set, the Red Hawks opened with five of the first six points led by two service aces from Hatcher. After Ramapo took a slim lead at 6-5, Curran tallied back-to-back kills to give the Red Hawks the lead again. The Roadrunners later retook the advantage again at 11-9, but Montclair answered with six points in a row. With the score 17-16, the visitors finished out the match with eight of the final 10 points to clinch the contest.

SCOUTING RUTGERS-NEWARK
The Scarlet Raiders enter this matchup with a 10-13 overall record with a 1-4 NJAC record. They are coming off a tri-match weekend where they split with a 3-0 win against FDU-Florham, but fell against Gwynedd Mercy, 3-0. In 2023, Rutgers-Newark finished 9-16 with a 1-7 NJAC record and missed the NJAC playoffs. According to the NJAC Preseason Poll, the Scarlet Raiders are projected to finish eighth.  

SERIES HISTORY
The Red Hawks and the Scarlet Raiders square off for the 48^th time in their series' history. It is Rutgers-Newark who holds a slight edge in the series with a 24-23 record against Montclair, but Montclair has battled back recently as they are currently on a six-match win streak.
