SALANGE BELL was named the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Goalkeeper of the Year for the Montclair State as the Red Hawks landed six student-athletes on the 2024 All-NJAC Team as announced by the conference office on Tuesday afternoon.
Of the six Red Hawks selected to this season's All-NJAC list, five were named to the First Team, which included
AILEEN CAHILL,
KYLIE PRENDERGAST, EMMI DENOVELLIS,
JULIE BAKER, and Bell. Montclair was rounded off by
EMILY SCHULER, who was named to the second team.
Bell was named NJAC Goalkeeper of the Year and to the first team in just her first season as a collegiate goalkeeper. The two-time NJAC Rookie of the Week started all 18 of her appearances between the pipes this season for Montclair State, garnering a 0.68 goals against average, an .844 save percentage and 65 saves on the year. She notched eight wins in goal, all of them were shutout wins.
Cahill, earns her fourth straight All-NJAC First Team selection of her career this season to round at being selected to the All-NJAC team each of her five seasons. Last season's NJAC Offensive Player of the Year, notched 17 points this season on six goals and five assists. She notched one game-winning goal on the season which came just recently in NJAC Quarterfinals with her goal sending Montclair to the semifinals with a 1-0 win against Kean in overtime.
Prendergast earns her second straight first team selection and her third overall. The former NJAC Rookie of the year logged 1,296 minutes and collected 13 points on six goals and one assist. She was tied for the team lead with three game-winning goals which was also tied for fourth in the conference.
DeNovellis earned her fourth All-NJAC selection and her third-straight first team accolade of her career. The senior midfielder accumulated 1,151 minutes throughout the year and started all 17 appearances on the pitch. She notched two goals and two assists for six points. She also notched a game-winner which came during an 8-1 win against Cairn on September 20.
Baker was honored to the All-NJAC team for the first time in her career with her first team selection. The junior defenders. contributed to a Montclair defense that allowed the second lowest goals against average in the league. She started all 20 games this season for the Red Hawks, compiling a team leading 1,705 minutes on the season. She also notched three points with a goal and an assist on the year.
Schuler earned her first All-NJAC honor of her career with a second team election this season. The junior midfielder played 1,548 minutes and played in all 20 games with 19 starts. She notched a goal during her campaign that was earned during an 8-1 win against Cairn on September 20.
The Red Hawks were tied with the most first team selections in the NJAC with Rowan at five apiece. They also had the third most selections in the conference this season.
Montclair State University heads down to Glassboro, NJ for their NJAC semifinal matchup against Rowan on Wednesday, November 6. Kickoff for that match will be at 6:00pm.
