Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Kissimmee, Fla. - The Montclair State University softball team dropped a pair of one-run contests to Cortland and Catholic on Sunday afternoon.

The Red Hawks fell to Cortland 1-0 before dropping a 3-2 decision to Catholic.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Against the Red Dragons, the Red Hawks threatened in the second. FAITH COLLIER and CHLOE SAPERSTEIN worked one-out walks but were left stranded after the next two hitters were retired. Cortland pushed the game's lone run across in the third on a sacrifice fly.
  • Montclair put runners on first and second with two down in the fifth, as MADISON LEECH and RILEIGH GLYNN singled. They could not scratch home as the inning closed with a fly-out.
  • DYLAN BOLES led off the seventh with a double and moved to third on an infield hit by Leech. Glynn advanced the runners with a groundout to first, but Montclair failed to score as a groundout to short finished the game.
  • Catholic put the first run across in the top of the second before Montclair nearly tied it in the third. Glynn singled with two outs and swiped second. KAYLA COSENTINO singled and moved to second. Both runners were left stranded after a fly out to right.
  • In the fifth, Leech singled with one down and stole second. After an out, Cosentino delivered a run-scoring double, tying things at one. Neither side scored over the next two frames, sending the contest to extras.
  • Catholic scored two in the ninth after a two-run homer but Montclair attempted a comeback in the home half. Pinch runner ALYSSA SANTIAGO, who entered on second base, scored a MOLLY COLLIGAN double. FAITH COLLIER walked to put runners on first and second, but the next two hitters were retired to end game two.
