Montclair, NJ – The Montclair State University men's lacrosse team travels to face DeSales University on Saturday afternoon.

LAST TIME OUT
The Red Hawks fell to Maritime College 14-9 on Wednesday, March 13 at Sprague Field. The Privateers opened with three of the first goals over the first 15 minutes of play before Montclair answered with two straight to begin the second frame. ETHAN MOUNIER found JACK CLEARY for a man-advantage goal 19 seconds in, and Cleary scored again at the 11:40 mark to level the contest. Maritime scored the next eight markers spanning the remainder of the second quarter and into the third. The Red Hawks ended the run with a CODY COOPER goal with 6:47 on the clock, starting a 6-1 run for Montclair. DAREN MAYER capped off the run with a goal with 9:52 in the fourth to make it a 12-9 contest, but the Privateers finished two goals of their own to seal the win.

SCOUTING DESALES
The Bulldogs enter Saturday's contest with a 2-4 mark on the 2024 campaign after winning 10 games during the 2023 season. After dropping five of their first six, they won eight of nine to qualify for the MAC Freedom Tournament, where they took down Arcadia before falling to #20 Stevens. This season, DeSales fell to Stockton and #8 RIT to begin their campaign. They have won two of their last four, sporting wins over Muhlenberg and Baldwin Wallace. DeSales fell in its most recent contest 21-8 to Colorado College on Saturday, March 9. They were tabbed second in the 2024 MAC Freedom Coaches Preseason Poll with 42 points.

SERIES HISTORY
Montclair and Desales will meet for the first time since 2020, with the Red Hawks holding the all-time series lead at 4-2. Three of the six clashes between the sides have been decided by one goal. Montclair holds the largest margin of victory in the all-time series, as they took down DeSales 18-7 on April 13, 2006. The Bulldogs have won both games in Center Valley, with the most recent being in 2019.

LAST MEETING
Montclair surged past DeSales 11-3 in their 2020 season opener at Sprague Field. The Red Hawks opened the scoring 18 seconds in, and DeSales answered with three of the next four goals bridging into the second quarter. MATT DANCSECS rattled off three straight markers to close out the first half and to begin the third stanza, starting a run of nine consecutive goals to finish out the contest.

The Red Hawks will return home to take on Endicott College on Wednesday, March 20. Faceoff from Sprague Field is slated for 12:00 PM.
