Montclair, NJ – The Montclair State softball team hosts Hunter College in their home opener on Tuesday.

LAST TIME OUT
The Red Hawks (5-5) fell to Simpson 4-3 before topping Suffolk 10-4 in game two on March 15. MARIAH CARRASCO had a two-run single in game one as Stephanis Seretis notched her first win of the year in game two. Montclair took advantage of six errors by Suffolk, with RILEIGH GLYNN, MOLLY COLLIGAN, and Seretis tallying RBI.

SCOUTING HUNTER
The Hawks enter with an 0-2 record, dropping both ends of a twinbill to Stevens on March 12. They lost 9-1 in the opener before falling 10-7 in game two. Six different Hawks notched RBI in game two, with Sonia Rosales Rosenthal knocking in a pair.

SERIES HISTORY
The Red Hawks are 44-2 against Hunter, including seven consecutive wins. The last setback came on March 30, 2017, when they fell 6-5. The other previous loss came in 1966 when they were outscored 13-12.

LAST MEETING
The Red Hawks topped Hunter 5-2 and 9-0 on March 18, 2023. In the 5-2 win, ALI CAVALLARO held Hunter hitless until the seventh, while JENNA MELUSO had two RBI. In the nightcap, STEPHANIE SERETIS and JULIANA CASILLAS had RBI hits in the first inning before AMBER REED capped off the frame with a two-run shot. Casillas tacked on an RBI double in the fourth to close out the win.

The Red Hawks continue their homestand on Thursday as they host Stevens in a doubleheader beginning at 3 pm.
