Montclair, NJ – The Montclair State University men's lacrosse team hosts FDU-Florham in its 2024 home opener Saturday morning.

LAST TIME OUT
The Red Hawks took down Penn College 16-6 in their season opener on Saturday, February 24. BRANDON LEWANDOWSKI opened the scoring 78 seconds into the contest, and Montclair later built their lead to 4-1 after 10 minutes of play. The Red Hawks put together a flurry of goals early in the second stanza to double their goal total with nine minutes left in the half. DAVID DRISCOLL scored off the faceoff five seconds into the third quarter, and Montclair used a strong defensive performance to finish off the contest. RYAN VIERBUCHEN led the Red Hawks with five goals, and JACK CLEARY tallied a career-best six assists.

SCOUTING FDU-FLORHAM
The Devils enter Saturday afternoon's contest with a 0-2 mark after falling 22-1 to Kean on Wednesday, February 28. After winning three of their first four games to open the 2023 season, they lost four straight before collecting a 3-5 record in MAC Freedom play. They lost two of their top three goal scorers, with Brenden Fabin being the lone returner of that group. Fabin and Jarrett Dugenio led the team in goals through two games with four goals apiece. 

SERIES HISTORY
Montclair and FDU-Florham have met 31 times in their history, with the Devils holding a slight 17-14 edge. After the Devils won five out of six clashes from 1997 to 2007, the Red Hawks have won the four most recent meetings. Montclair has outscored FDU-Florham 49-17 over the last three games. 

LAST MEETING
Montclair downed FDU-Florham 17-6 on March 2, 2023 behind a five goal performance from TYLER MCCREERY. After the Devils struck for the opening goal of the contest, the Red Hawks scored five of the next six, including three from TYLER MCCREERY, to take a 6-2 lead. Montclair added two more before halftime on markers from MIKE MCCREERY and ETHAN MOUNIER. The Red Hawks traded goals in the third stanza, and after FDU scored two early in the fourth, Montclair finished the game with the final four goals.
