Montclair, NJ – The Montclair State University men's lacrosse team travels to face Stockton University on Saturday evening.

LAST TIME OUT
The Red Hawks fell to the University of Mary Washington 11-8 on Saturday, April 6. After Montclair scored the opening goal of the contest, the Eagles struck for three straight markers over a three minute span to open a multi-goal advantage. JOHN CRANK and RYAN VIERBUCHEN each found the back of the next to level the contest after the opening 15 minutes. The two sides traded the first four goals of the second stanza, with Vierbuchen tallying each for the Red Hawks. Mary Washington scored the final goal of the half with under two minutes remaining and strung together the first four of the third quarter to build a 10-5 lead. Montclair tallied three of the last four markers, but the Eagles closed the contest to seal the victory.

SCOUTING STOCKTON
The Ospreys rank second in the Coastal Lacrosse Conference with a 2-1 mark and 9-5 overall during the 2024 campaign. Stockton kicked off their season with five-straight victories, outsourcing opponents 43-17 during the first three. They fell in three of their next five, with both losses coming against ranked opponents in #20 Wesleyan and #16 Swarthmore. Stockton kicked off CLC play with a narrow 18-17 victory over Mary Washington before falling to #1 Salisbury. After outlasting Kean 17-16 in overtime, they were defeated by Vassar in their most recent game on Wednesday, April 10. The Ospreys ranked third in the CLC during the 2023 season with a 3-2 mark and were tabbed third in the 2024 CLC PReseason Coaches Poll.

SERIES HISTORY
Montclair is 34-14 all-time against Stockton in a series dating back to 1987. The Ospreys have claimed the last seven meetings, snapping a 19-game winning streak for the Red Hawks. The two sides have been tightly contested in games played at Stockton, with the Ospreys holding a slim 10-9 advantage in all-time meetings.

LAST MEETING
The Red Hawks fell in a 16-15 thriller to the Ospreys on April 19, 2023 at Sprague Field. After Stockton tallied the opening marker of the contest 34 seconds in, TYLER MCCREERY and MATT DANCSECS scored to give Montclair an early lead. The visitors responded with six of the next seven goals bridging into the early minutes of the second stanza. The Red Hawks answered with three of their own before Stockton scored seven of the next eight to build a 14-7 lead in the opening minute of the fourth quarter. Montclair staged a rally, kicked off by markers from LUCAS NOVACK and ETHAN MOUNIER. They continued their push, as McCreery, Dancsecs, and Mounier all scored again to cut the deficit to 14-12. The Ospreys scored two of the next three to make the margin three with 2:20 remaining, but the Red Hawks made one final push with goals from RYAN VIERBUCHEN and McCreery to make the final margin one.
