Montclair, NJ – The #6 Montclair State University men's lacrosse team travels to face #3 Stockton University in the Quarterfinals of the Coastal Lacrosse Conference Tournament on Sunday afternoon.

LAST TIME OUT
The Red Hawks fell to #1 Salisbury 29-2 on Saturday, April 20. The Sea Gulls took the lead 90 seconds in and expanded the margin to six with 5:26 remaining in the first. Montclair applied offensive pressure, sending in four shot attempts in under two minutes, but the home side added the final marker of the first with 41 seconds left. The Red Hawks opened the second quarter with a goal from LOUIS AZARA on the resulting possession off the faceoff. Salisbury answered with three goals over the next three minutes and expanded the margin to 14 at the break. ETHAN MOUNIER opened the second half with a man-up goal off a feed from JACK CLEARY, but the Sea Gulls scored the final 14 goals of the contest to conclude conference regular season play.

SCOUTING STOCKTON
The Ospreys finished CLC play with a 3-2 mark and a 10-7 record on the 2024 campaign. Stockton kicked off their season with five-straight victories, outscoring opponents 43-17 during the first three. They fell in three of their next five, with both losses coming against ranked opponents in #20 Wesleyan and #16 Swarthmore. Stockton kicked off CLC play with a narrow 18-17 victory over Mary Washington before falling to #1 Salisbury. After outlasting Kean 17-16 in overtime, they were defeated by Vassar before taking down Montclair on April 13. They concluded the regular season with two ranked losses against #8 Christopher Newport and #25 Muhlenberg. 

SERIES HISTORY
Montclair is 34-15 all-time against Stockton in a series dating back to 1987. The Ospreys have claimed the last eight meetings, snapping a 19-game winning streak for the Red Hawks. The two sides have been tightly contests in games played at Stockton, with the Ospreys holding a slim 11-9 advantage in all-time meetings.

LAST MEETING
The Red Hawks fell to Stockton 15-11 on Saturday, April 13. The Ospreys opened the scoring before JACK CLEARY netted his first marker of the game to tie the contest. Stockton opened up a three-goal lead in the final five minutes of the first quarter. Playing a man down, RYAN VIERBUCHEN cut the deficit to two off a feed from ETHAN MOUNIER. The Ospreys registered the final three goals of the half to go into the break up 7-2. Vierbuchen opened the third stanza, and Montclair scored three of the next five to cut into the deficit. Stockton tallied four-straight over the final minutes of the third bridging into the start of the fourth. After Cleary connected on an unassisted marker, the Ospreys netted two more to expand the margin back to eight. Montclair scored the final four goals of the night, but Stockton held on for the home victory.
