LAST TIME OUT
Montclair earned a big road win on Wednesday in its final non-conference game of the season at SUNY New Paltz, 3-0. The Red Hawks (5-11) received a save fromÂ
SYDNEY WHITEÂ in the opening two minutes of the contest as New Paltz recorded a pair of shots, one coming shortly after a penalty corner insertion. The Hawks continued searching for the game's opening strike, as White had to parry away another attempt on frame in the fifth minute. After an attempt from the home side went wide five minutes later, both sides did not allow a shot over the remainder of the stanza. Montclair took the lead roughly halfway through the second quarter, asÂ
BELLA HEISERÂ threaded the ball through defenders toÂ
NATALIE SURMA, who turned and tucked a pass toÂ
MELISSA BICKFORD, who sent a shot past the goalie into the far corner of the cage. The Red Hawks doubled their advantage in the waning moments of the half, asÂ
COLLEEN MCGAVINÂ collected a pass fromÂ
JULIA RANSKI, cut back towards the middle of the shooting circle, and ripped a shot into the top left corner of the cage. Coming out of the break, the Red Hawks added their third goal of the day, asÂ
ANNA DONALDSONÂ slotted a penalty stroke attempt into the low right portion of the cage. Montclair continued to push offensively with a shot attempt fromÂ
BREANNA FABIÂ that was stopped by the Hawks. New Paltz searched for their first marker with four minutes to go in the third period, as White tallied three more saves to preserve the margin. New Paltz kept pushing into the final quarter, notching three shots in the opening five minutes. Shortly after, White parried away a pair of attempts on frame, and notched two more over the final minutes of the contest as Montclair maintained the road shutout victory.
