Montclair, NJ – The Montclair State University Women's soccer team hits the road as they face off against Western Connecticut University this Wednesday.

LAST TIME OUT 
Montclair had an early lead, but late goals from TCNJ helped them play tha game to a 2-2 draw. The Red Hawks saw an early save from SALANGE BELL before they broke the scoring open in the 13th minute. On a corner kick from the far side of the field, CARLY GUZZARDO looped in an in-swinging service that was immediately headed into the back of the net at the far post by KYLIE PRENDERGAST. Bell recorded another save at the bottom right corner of the net three minutes later to preserve the lead. Montclair doubled their advantage with four minutes to go before the break, as MADELINE LESICA collected the ball on the far touchline following a corner kick and sent in a pass that found its way to the back post, where SHANNON MULLINS headed it past the keeper. TCNJ tallied a pair of shots in the waning moments of the period, but Bell tallied a stop to push the Red Hawks into the half with the advantage. Coming out of half, the Red Hawks continued to push offensively, recording four shots in the first 10 minutes. TCNJ cut the deficit in half in the 71st minute on a scramble in front of the net following a corner kick from the far side of the field. A few minutes later, the Lions notched a save on a penalty kick attempt from the Red Hawks to keep the game at 2-1. Bell tallied a point blank save on a shot attempt right in front of goal in the 85th minute as TCNJ searched for the equalizer. Shortly after, the Lions leveled the game after taking advantage of a turnover and one-on-one opportunity. There was only one shot between the two sides in the final three minutes, as the contest ended in a draw.

SCOUTING WESTERN CONNECTICUT 
The Wolves are coming off a dominant 4–1 victory over UMass Boston and enter this matchup unbeaten in their last four home games and have won seven of their last eight matches. In 2024, West Conn put together an 11-6-5 overall record with a 4-1-3 record in the Little East Conference. They entered the conference tournament and made it to the finals after defeating Plymouth State (5-1) and UMass Boston (2-1), before falling to Southern Maine, 3-0. According to the 2025 LEC Preseason Poll, Western Connecticut is set to place third this season
 
SERIES HISTORY 
The Red Hawks and the Wolves will face off for the fifth time in their program's history. Western Connecticut has the leg up on Montclair with a 3-1 record.  
 
LAST MEETING 
The last time the Red Hawks met the Wolves was in the Valiant Classic in 2009, where Montclair was victorious, winning by a score of 3-1 to claim victory in Purchase, NY.
