Women's Soccer Earns Five Major Awards; Lands Eight All-NJAC Selections

Pitman, NJ - The Montclair State University women's soccer team collected five of the six New Jersey Athletic Conference major awards and notched eight All-NJAC selections, the conference announced on Wednesday morning.

KYLIE PRENDERGAST was tabbed Offensive Player of the Year, SHANNON MULLINS earned Midfielder of the Year, SALANGE BELL was named Goalkeeper of the Year, and CARLY GUZZARDO rounded out the group with a Rookie of the Year selection. Additionally, the team's coaching staff collected the Joe Russo Coaching Staff of the Year award. On top of the major award winners, ISABELL KRONOW, Emily Shuler, and ARIA HICKS all garnered First Team All-NJAC honors, with MACKENZIE ALBERT being named to the Second Team.

Prendergast collected a First Team All-NJAC selection along with being named Offensive Player of the Year after leading the Red Hawks with 12 goals on the season, which ranked second in the league. She ended the regular season with a goal contribution in each of Montclair's final eight games, scoring the game-winning goal in the last three. Additionally, Prendergast notched five assists, with three coming on the game's winning goal. The forward is the fifth Red Hawk to be named NJAC Offensive Player of the Year and the first since AILEEN CAHILL who earned it in 2021 and 2023.

Mullins became the sixth Red Hawk to be selected as the NJAC Midfielder of the Year, the first since Cahill in 2022. She notched First Team All-NJAC honors after finishing tied for fourth in the conference and second on the team in goals with nine goals across 16 starts and 1,220 minutes. Over an eight game stretch in October, the midfielder compiled nine goal contributions, including game-winning goals against Kean and Western Connecticut. Additionally, Mullins notched a pair of assists during the fall, with one coming on the game-winner against William Paterson on October 15.

Bell recorded back-to-back NJAC Goalkeeper of the Year and First Team All-NJAC selections after compiling an unbeaten 12-0-5 mark during the regular season. The sophomore allowed just 10 goals on the year, notching eight shutouts to finish tied for the NJAC lead. Her .847 save percentage was the second-best in the league as she compiled 50 through 17 regular season starts. Bell is one of five Red Hawks to be named NJAC Goalkeeper of the Year and the only to win it twice. She is also one of two student-athletes in program history to win consecutive major awards, with Cahill being the other.

Guzzardo is the seventh Red Hawk in program history to be named NJAC Rookie of the Year and fourth since the 2021 spring season. She also notched Second Team All-NJAC honors after starting all 17 of her appearances, racking up 1,204 minutes. Her seven assists during the regular season were tied for third in the league, with her also scoring her first collegiate goal against Penn State Berks on September 8. Guzzardo tallied the assist on the game-winning goal against Stockton on October 25, one of her two multi-assist performances of the campaign.

Pat Naughter, Erin Sullivan, and Nicole Carbone were named the 2025 NJAC Coaching Staff of the Year after guiding the Red Hawks to an unbeaten regular season, with their 17-game run the longest stretch since the 2013 campaign. The Red Hawks ranked second in the league with 49 goals while allowing just 10, compiling the NJAC's best goal differential at 39. Defensively, Montclair tallied nine shutouts for the year, ranking second in the NJAC, allowing five or fewer shots in 13 of their 17 contests. The 7-0-2 record within conference play marked the fourth time in program history that the Red Hawks completed the regular season unbeaten in the NJAC, winning six or more games within the league in each of the past five years.

Kronow landed on the NJAC's First Team after starting all 17 games, collecting 1,015 minutes. She accumulated seven goals, including a brace and game-winning goal against NJCU on September 27. She opened the campaign with a goal contribution in each of Montclair's first five games, including an assist in four-straight. Kronow notched a game-winning assist against Coast Guard on August 29 and later scored the game-winner against William Paterson on October 15.

Schuler earned First Team All-NJAC honors after being named to the Second Team in 2024. The midfielder started all 17 games during the regular season, logging 1,226 minutes while tallying an assist against Penn State Berks on September 8. Defensively, she helped contribute to Montclair's nine shutouts on the season, ranking second in the league. The senior has started all but one game in her career and has logged over 5,000 minutes during her time with the Red Hawks.

Hicks received a First Team All-NJAC selection after anchoring one of the league's best defenses, starting every game and collecting 1,360 minutes along the back line. Montclair allowed just 10 goals during the regular season, the second-fewest in the NJAC. The team also ranked second in the league in shutouts with nine, as Hicks started all of them and played over 70 minutes in eight of them.

Albert was named Second Team All-NJAC after appearing in all 17 games, starting 13 contests and logging 1,012 minutes.
