Montclair, NJ - The Montclair State University baseball team unveiled its 2026 schedule on Monday afternoon. The 40-game slate features eight NCAA Tournament teams from last season, multiple homestands of seven or more games, and a challenging Spring Break road trip.
Montclair will kick off the campaign February 20-22 with a three-game series against UMass Dartmouth at Yogi Berra Stadium, taking on the Corsairs for the first time since 2019. The Red Hawks will continue their season-opening eight game homestand with a midweek clash against Maritime (February 25) before taking on NCAA Tournament Super Regional foe Salve Regina from February 27 to March 1. They will wrap up the opening stretch on March 3 with a contest against in-state opponent Stevens.
The Red Hawks will travel to Greensboro, North Carolina for a challenging three-game slate at Truist Point Stadium, the home of the Atlantic League's High Point Rockers. Montclair will open the Greensboro Triad Invitational on Friday, March 6 as they square off against NCAA Tournament opponent Maryville and then will play Greensboro (March 7) before rounding out the competition with another NCAA Tournament foe in Adrian on Sunday, March 8.
Returning home, Montclair will host FDU-Florham on March 10 before traveling out to take on Centenary on March 11. They will then host the Massachusetts Institute of Technology for a three-game set March 13-15 and will welcome future New Jersey Athletic Conference foe SUNY New Paltz for a midweek contest on March 17. The Red Hawks will wrap up their seven-game home stretch with a three-game weekend series against Westfield State on March 20-22.
After traveling to face DeSales under the lights on March 25, Montclair will kick off NJAC play on Saturday, March 28 with a doubleheader at Stockton. The Red Hawks will return to Yogi Berra Stadium to wrap up nonconference play on March 30 before welcoming William Paterson on April 2. The following day, Montclair will travel up Route 46 for the return game against the Pioneers, and will welcome in Rowan for a doubleheader on Saturday, April 4. Montclair will play a home-and-home against Kean the week after, traveling to Union on April 9 before hosting the Cougars on April 10.Â
The Red Hawks will square off against The College of New Jersey in a doubleheader on Saturday, April 11, and will remain home to take on NJCU for the final time as an NJAC opponent on April 16. After traveling to Jersey City for the return game against the Gothic Knights on April 17, Montclair will head down the New Jersey Turnpike to take on Rutgers-Camden in a doubleheader on Saturday, April 18. The final week of the regular season will pit the Red Hawks against Ramapo, with a road clash on April 23 and the return game at Yogi Berra Stadium the following day. Montclair will conclude the slate with a doubleheader at Rutgers-Newark on Saturday, April 25.
In a new NJAC Tournament format, the 2026 postseason will kick off with a quarterfinal round on Tuesday, April 28 and the semifinals to follow on Thursday, April 30. Both rounds will feature a single game for each matchup. The 2026 NJAC Tournament Championship will feature a best-of-three series, with a doubleheader at the higher seed on Saturday, May 2, and the potential deciding game being the following day on Sunday, May 3.
"This 2026 slate offers us the challenges we're looking for," Head Coach Dave Lorber said. "A strong early non-conference schedule will prepare us to chase an NJAC championship. With 25 home games at Yogi, we're excited for the University and community to come out and help create a true home-field advantage all season long!"
Montclair is coming off its fifth 20-plus win season where it posted a 24-16-1 record in 2025, qualifying for the NJAC Tournament. The Red Hawks have posted a 74-22 record at Yogi Berra Stadium over the past five seasons and will look to post double-digit conference victories for the fifth time over the last six years.
