LAST TIME OUT
Montclair suffered a 15-12 defeat at the hands of Guilford on Tuesday. The Red Hawks broke the scoring open in the first, as MATTEO PASCULLI singled through the left side with runners on the corners to plate JARED LEVIS. Guilford countered in the bottom of the first with two runs and then added four more in the second on three hits and an error. Montclair climbed back into the contest in the fifth, as MILES FEASTER singled to center field and was driven home during the next at-bat on a double to left center by Pasculli. BILLY TIGAR brought in the second tally of the frame on a single to right center during the next at-bat to make the margin three. The Quakers pushed the lead to seven in the bottom of the sixth, a run capped off by a three-run home run to left field to make the score 10-3 with three innings to go. Montclair quickly responded in the seventh, as back-to-back errors to lead off the inning led to a run being plated on a fielder's choice. Later in the stanza, DANNY CORCORAN tripled down the right field line to plate Tigar, and Corcoran came home during the next at-bat on a wild pitch. Guilford collected four runs on four hits in the seventh to balloon the advantage to 14-6, with the Red Hawks driving in a run in the eighth on a single up the middle from Tigar. The Quakers tacked on their final run of the contest in the bottom half of the inning on a single to right field. Montclair mounted a comeback in the ninth, as BRODY DIERS led off the frame with a double to left center, and NICK DESIDERIO singled to put runners on the corners. Levis reached on a fielding error during the next at-bat to plate Diers, and Feaster singled later in the inning with the bases loaded to score two more markers. A throwing error would bring home the fourth run of the frame, and Corcoran grounded out to third to tally another run, but the margin would end at three.
