Alby’s 100-Meter Record Highlights Second Day at Ramapo College TF Invitational

Mahwah, NJ- In her first collegiate outdoor meet, freshman MCKAY ALBY broke the program's 100-meter record to highlight the second and final day for the Montclair State University Women's Outdoor Track and Field Team at the Ramapo College TF Invitational on Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Alby broke the record when she clocked a time of 12.27. That time also placed second at the meet behind NJCU's Reyanna Henderson (12.24).

In the 1500-meter event, ABIGAIL CHURCHILL and TORI SUTERA placed back-to-back with Churchill placing fifth (4:54.86) and Sutera finishing sixth (4:54.86).
Also seeing top six finishes were KENDALL HALL, MICHELLE ITOUA, and Odalys Guerrero-Dominguez. Hall placed fourth in the 100-meter hurdles (15.75), Itoua finished fifth in the 200-meter dash (26.07) and Guerrero-Dominguez notched sixth in the 400-meter run (1:01.41).
In relays, the 4x100 team of Itoua, AISHA GARCIA, MAILE O'NEILL, and Alby clocked a 49.03 time that placed fourth among the field. The 4x800 team of Sutera, Guerrero-Dominguez, Lillana Synder, and ABIGAIL CHURCHILL were the top team at the event with a first-place finish of 9:58.95.
In the field, JULIA ACEVEDO competed in both the triple jump and the high jump. She placed third in the triple jump with a mark of 10.88m (35' 8.5") and eighth in the high jump at 1.48m (4' 10.25"). SARAH LUMAS joined Acevedo in the triple jump and placed ninth with a mark of 10.15m (33' 3.75").
KAELYN RODRIGUEZ earned a ninth-place finish in the long jump with a mark of 5.00m (16' 5").

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

Alby's record breaks a 13-year-old record that was set back on April 13, 2012, by Ashley Powell, who clocked a 12.45 at the Coach Pollard Invitational.
Churchill's time in the 1500 is the second-best in program history, with Sutera's being third.
In the relays, the 4x800 time is the second-best in program history, with the 4x100 ranking fifth all-time.
Acevedo's triple jump ranks fifth all-time while Lumas' ranks eighth all-time and fourth-best freshman mark.
Hall's 100-meter hurdles time ranks 10^th best all-time and is the sixth-best freshman time in Red Hawk history.
