Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Earns Six Podium Finishes on Day Two of NJAC Championship

Ewing, NJ – On the second and final day of the NJAC Championships, the Montclair State University women's track and field team earned six podium finishes to cap off its weekend at TCNJ on Sunday. The finished in fourth place as a team with 84 points.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Leading the way was MCKAY ALBY, who kept her top spot in the 100-meter dash from yesterday and became an NJAC Champion with a time of 12.46.
  • ABIGAIL CHURCHILL saw two podium finishes with a pair of bronze medal finishes. She placed third in the 5000-meter run with a time of 18:33.99 and in the 1500-meter run with a time of 4:44.09.
  • JULIA ACEVEDO earned herself a silver medal in the triple jump. She placed second in the field with a jump of 11.36m (37' 3.25"). She also competed in the 400-meter hurdles finals and the high jump. In the hurdles, she placed seventh with a time of 1:08.25. She also put together a 1.42m (4' 7.75") high jump mark that placed eighth.
  • The 4x100 team of MICHELLE ITOUA, AISHA GARCIA, MAILE O'NEILL, and Alby put together a second-place finish with a combined time of 49.14.
  • JESSICA HOLLER put together a third-place finish for Montclair State in the Heptathlon. She earned her podium finish with a combined score of 3560
  • KENDALL HALL saw a fifth-place finish in the 100-meter hurdles. She put together a time of 15.65.
  • TANIYA GILES also earned fifth place in the shot put. She threw a distance of 12.07m (39' 7.25").
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • Alby became the first 100-meter champion for Montclair State since 2011.
  • The 4x100 relay earned its first podium finish and All-NJAC honor since 2014.
  • Holler became the first Red Hawk to earn All-NJAC recognition in the Heptathlon.
  • The Red Hawks saw its best overall standing at the NJAC since 2012 when that team also placed fourth.
