Alby Breaks 43-Year-Old Record for Women’s Outdoor Track & Field at the TCNJ Invitational & Multi Meet

Ewing, NJ – The Montclair State University women's outdoor track and field sophomore MCKAY ALBY broke Montclair's 43-year-old 200-meter dash record to highlight the final day for the Red Hawks at the TCNJ Invitational & Multi Meet on Saturday afternoon. The record stood for 43 years.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Alby broke the record and secured second place in the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.07.
The Red Hawks' 4x100 relay, consisting of AISHA GARCIA, MAILE O'NEILL, KAELYN RODRIGUEZ, and Alby, took first at the meet with a team time of 49.05.
ALICIA RIGGINS had a stellar day in the 100-meter hurdles. She posted the top time in the preliminaries (15.36) and carried it over into the finals for a win (15.39).
Odalys Guerrero-Domínguez saw two top-10 finishes on the track. She finished seventh in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:25.57. She also placed 10^th in the 400-meter dash at 1:01.99.
Garcia represented Montclair in the 100-meter finals and placed third with a finish of 12.41.
In the field, MICEL MARTINEZ placed fourth in the high jump with a height of 1.55m (4' 11").
Montclair saw three student-athletes in the top eight in the long jump. KAELYN RODRIGUEZ led the way with a mark of 5.30m (17' 4.75"). ZAIDA TAYLOR-BURCH notched seventh (5.01m/16' 5.25") and was followed by CHARLEY KLINE in eighth (4.85m/15' 11").
MARYAM KARIYM notched second place in the triple jump, earning a distance of 10.67m (35' 0.25"). SARAH LUMAS earned a top five with a mark of 10.08m (33' 1").
The shot put group notched four top-10 finishes, with MAYA YESALONIS leading the way at 10.81m (35' 5.75"), which earned fourth place. CHLOE BRIJBAG (10.24m/33' 7.25") and JAELANI HERNANDEZ (10.09m/33' 1.25") finished sixth and seventh, respectively. HANNAH OTTERSTEDT placed 10^th with a distance of 9.77m (32' 0.75").
NATALIA FELIZ wrapped up the day with a win in the women's discus. She out threw the competition with a distance of 36.03m (118' 2"). Otterstedt placed fifth with a throw of 33.33m (109' 4") and KAITLYN CHIRKIS notched ninth with a mark of 30.69m (100' 8").

INSIDE THE RESULTS

Alby broke the record set by Sharon Kearns back in 1983 (25.32).
Garcia and Riggins each nabbed personal-best times in their events.
Guerrero-Domínguez earned a personal best in the 800-meter event.
In the long jump, Rodriguez nabbed a personal-best, while Taylor-Burch earned a season-best mark.
