Women's Track & Field Places Five on Podium During Second Day of NJAC Championships

Mahwah, NJ The Montclair State University Women's Track & Field team placed five on the podium during the second day of the 2026 New Jersey Athletic Conference Championships on Sunday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Red Hawks were led by the spring group of AISHA GARCIA, MAILE O'NEILL, KAELYN RODRIGUEZ, and MCKAY ALBY, who clocked in a school record 47.43 seconds in the 4x100 relay to place second in the event. The time also was an AARTFC qualifying mark.
  • In the 200m, Alby built off her strong first day of the competition by landing on the podium with a second place time of 24.32 seconds. O'Neill registered a mark of 25.40 seconds, finishing eighth.
  • Montclair placed three in the top five for the 100m, led by Alby's time of 11.98, placing her on the podium again in second place. Garcia finished fourth at 12.31 seconds, with O'Neill rounding out the top five at 12.35 seconds.
  • Headlining the field events was SARAH LUMAS, who notched a mark of 10.85m to rank second among the field. MARYAM KARIYM was close behind in fourth at 10.48m, with CHARLEY KLINE (10.07m) and ZAIDA TAYLOR-BURCH (10.01m) finishing seventh and eighth, respectively.
  • JESSICA HOLLER landed on the podium in the heptathlon, ranking third to finish out the two-day event. She collected marks of 4.59m in the long jump and 19.79m in the javelin throw, and finished the day by clocking in at 2:48.57 in the 800m.
  • ALICIA RIGGINS recorded an AARTFC qualifier in the 100m hurdles, finishing fifth at 15.02 seconds. ABIGAIL CHURCHILL did the same in the 5000m, ranking fifth as well at 18:09.26. LILIANA SNYDER (19:48.89) and JORDAN BOHRER (20:01.16) finished 13th and 15th, respectively.
  • Montclair placed a pair of trios in the top 15 of the discus throw and shot put. HANNAH OTTERSTEDT (35.83m) and NATALIA FELIZ (35.45m) recorded sixth and seventh place marks, with KAITLYN CHIRKIS ranking 15th at 30.56m in the discus throw. In the shot put, MAYA YESALONIS led the way in eighth at 10.81m, with CHLOE BRIJBAG in 10th at 10.05m and Otterstedt in 12th at 9.92m.
  • In the high jump, MICEL MARTINEZ collected a fourth place finish with a mark of 1.53m, with SARAH LUMAS ranking 14th at 1.43m.
  • Rodriguez, ODALYS GUERRERO-DOMINGUEZ, ALEXA ALI, and A'SYA BROWN recorded an AARTFC qualifying time of 4:04.96 in the 4x400 relay, placing fifth among the field.
  • Guerrero-Dominguez recorded a 10th place time of 2:25.03 in the 800m, with Snyder finishing 12th at 2:27.81. MACKENZIE COCHRAN clocked in at 5:14.49 in the 1500m, placing 14th.
INSIDE THE RESULTS
  • Montclair amassed 113 points across the two-day competition, finishing fourth among the nine-team field. 
  • The Red Hawks collected 16 total points in the triple jump, placing four in the top eight.

The Red Hawks will return to Mahwah, NJ to compete at the Ramapo Last Chance Meet on Friday, May 8 with competition scheduled to begin at 5:00 PM.
