Montclair State University has a proud tradition of excellence in NCAA Division III athletics and is a recognized leader in the development of athletic trainers. The University has long acknowledged the crucial role that sports medicine and the athletic training profession play in preventing and treating sports-related injuries. Montclair’s athletic trainers provide a comprehensive range of services, including primary care, injury and illness prevention, wellness promotion and education, emergency care, clinical examination and diagnosis, as well as therapeutic intervention and rehabilitation of injuries and medical conditions.

The Montclair Sports Medicine staff is committed to delivering high-quality medical care to our student-athletes. We understand that each injury is a significant moment in a student-athlete’s life, and we aim to not only educate them about their injury but also ensure they return to play in a safe and healthy manner. We take pride in helping our athletes stay healthy and compete at their best.

Our Sports Medicine team consists of medical professionals, including sports medicine physicians, orthopedic surgeons, primary care physicians, full-time athletic trainers, part time athletic trainers, podiatrists, hand specialists, and other specialized medical practitioners. Together, we provide comprehensive musculoskeletal and medical care, with weekly clinics held in the Sports Medicine facility to serve our student-athletes.

Montclair State’s athletic trainers also serve as clinical preceptors for the Athletic Training Education Program. This program equips students with a well-rounded education and hands-on experience working with our sports medicine team. Students are prepared for careers in a growing field of highly qualified, multi-skilled healthcare professionals who work in collaboration with physicians to deliver essential care.

Together, our commitment to the health and well-being of Montclair’s student-athletes, combined with our role in shaping the future of athletic training, ensures that we continue to set the standard for excellence in sports medicine.
