Morrissey tallied eight points as the five-time defending conference champion and 12th-ranked Red Hawks opened defense of their league title with a 27-5 win over Mt. St. Mary last Saturday. Morrissey scored six goals and added two assists in addition to registering two ground balls and a caused turnover. Morrissey scored three times and had an assist in the second period as MSU blew the game open outscoring the Knights 7-1 in the second to take a 13-2 lead at halftime. Morrissey, named the Skyline Conference Player of the Week, is currently ranked sixth in the Skyline Conference in points with 32 and is ninth in goals with 21.
