JOE FOOTE was 4-4 and knocked in two runs as Montclair State University defeated Kean University 8-3 on Friday afternoon.
The Red Hawk offense tallied 17 hits in total to even the season series with Kean at one apiece. Foote,
RYAN LONG, Ryan Theime,
JOE NORTON and
SEBASTIAN SEVERIO all contributed multi-hit efforts.
MSU stuck early with two runs in the first on an RBI single from Phil Scott, and a double from Norton that scored Scott from first base. The Red Hawks would never cede the lead. Red Hawk batters would reach base in all but one inning.
Montclair's offense was backed by a strong outing from starting pitcher
CONNOR LINDSAY. Lindsay went seven innings and allowed three runs while scattering eight hits and striking out five, with no walks. He was relieved by
TAYLOR PARSONS, who went the final two innings and earned his third save of the season. Lindsay improved to 4-2 with the win. Kean starter Richie Ferguson took the loss after exiting in the third.
The Red Hawks will return to action on Saturday morning at Yogi Berra Stadium with a double-header against The College of New Jersey. Game one will be at 11:30 AM, with ceremonies for Senior Day taking place before first pitch.
