CHRISTINE GRIFFITH of the women's indoor track and field team was named the New Jersey Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week Monday.
Griffith registered a top-five finish in the pentathlon for the Red Hawks and recorded the best score in the NJAC this season. She won the shot put with a throw of 11.82 m and was fifth in both the high jump (1.45m) and long jump (4.68m).
The graduate student was ninth in the 60 hurdles (10.79 seconds) and 10th in the 800 meters (2:53.39). Griffth scored 2,689 points over the five events, good fourth overall. She was just eight points out of a third-place finish and 34 out of second.
Griffith and the Red Hawks will return to action on Monday, February 24, when they compete at the NJAC Indoor Championships at the Ocean Breeze Track & Field Center in Staten Island, NY.
