Montclair, NJ – The Montclair State baseball team looks to sweep its two-game series with local rival William Paterson as the two square off at Yogi Berra Stadium this afternoon.

THE TEAMS:
Montclair State took the first game of the home-and-home on Wednesday, posting a 12-9 victory at Jeff Albies Field in Wayne in the 200th all-time meetings between the schools. The Red Hawks sent 14 batters to the plate and scored 10 times in the third inning before holding off a Pioneer rally. The win for MSU snapped a two-game losing streak against its local rival and just the second in the last seven meetings.
MICHAEL MURPHY drove in four runs - all in the third inning, and
ANDREW OLLWERTHER smacked a solo homer.
PETER COSENTINO collected three hits and three RBI with reliever
CHRIS LUM nailing down his fourth save of the year as he recorded the final six outs. Dan Carter (five RBI) blasted two home runs for WPU which used the long ball for all its scoring. Steve Yelin and Colin Lombardo also went deep for the Pioneers.

The long-standing series between the schools separated by nine miles, is 200 games old now following Thursday's game. Montclair State holds the lead 113-87, however it is the Pioneers who have the upper hand of late winning five of the last seven. Montclair, which snapped a short two-game losing streak to WPU on Thursday, is 33-22 at home against the Pioneers, and 76-48 within NJAC action.
