TCNJ (2-6, 1-2 NJAC) held the Red Hawks in check offensively after Cosentino connected on the first of his two home runs in the first inning not allowing a hit until the ninth inning. TCNJ, which split its opening conference series with Rutgers-Newark last weekend, saw two of its players - Ryan Goodall and Ben Amon collect weekly NJAC honors.

Montclair State snapped a six-game losing streak to the Lions with Thursday's victory. The Red Hawks' last win against TCNJ came in the NJAC Tournament in 2016. The teams have met every season since 1929. The Lions registered a 13-5 win that year and won the first five contests. The teams have battled for several conference and regional titles throughout the years, the last ones coming in 2006. The College of New Jersey stunned Montclair in the championship game of the NJAC Tournament with a walk-off grand slam in the bottom of the ninth. A week later, the Red Hawks turned the tables in the Mid-Atlantic Regional, beating the top-seeded Lions twice to earn a trip to the NCAA Division III Baseball Championship in Grand Chute, WI.
