Men's Basketball: Game Day Preview vs. Stockton

Montclair, NJ – The Montclair State men's basketball team hosts Stockton University in New Jersey Athletic action Monday evening.

LAST TIME OUT
Montclair State (10-6, 7-5 NJAC) fended off Ramapo College Wednesday for a 76-70 victory. The Red Hawks erased an eight-point deficit in the first half, ending the period on a 17-7 spurt to take a two-point lead into halftime. KIERAN FLANAGAN drained a three midway through the second stanza to start a 7-0 run, and the Red Hawks never trailed after. IRVING CALLENDER IV and STEVEN BREEMAN scored 19 points, as Callender IV added seven steals. The seven thefts were tied for the second-most in a single game in program history and was the first seven steal game by a Red Hawk since 2011.

SCOUTING THE OSPREYS
Stockton comes into the record with a 15-3 overall record, including a 10-2 mark within the NJAC. They are riding a four-game winning streak, with their last setback coming to NJCU on January 12. They topped Rowan 96-91 as Kyion Flanders scored a game-high 31 points while DJ Campbell added 24.
 
LAST MEETING
The Red Hawks fell 89-82 in their previous meeting against Stockton on December 11. They trailed by 19 at the half but closed to within five points with 4:54 to go in the second half. They could not get any closer than that but outscored the Ospreys 47-35 in the second period. Breeman and Callender IV scored 20 points while DEVIN COOPER dished out eight assists.
 
SERIES HISTORY
The Red Hawks have struggled against Stockton, as they are 30-52 all-time. The Ospreys have taken 12 of the last 14 matchups. Their previous victory came on January 6, 2018, as they notched a 77-64 triumph down in Galloway. Eddie Emedoh tallied 20 points and 11 rebounds off the bench in the win.
