Men's Basketball: Game Day Preview vs. Stockton (NJAC Semifinals)

Montclair, NJ – The No. 4 seeded Montclair State men's basketball team visits No. 1 seed Stockton University in the New Jersey Athletic Conference Semifinals Thursday.

LAST TIME OUT
Montclair State (14-9, 10-8 NJAC) knocked off fifth-seeded William Paterson 71-66 in the NJAC Quarterfinals Tuesday. MIKE JACKSON and DEVIN COOPER went 6-of-9 from the floor to score 18 and 17 points, respectively, while KIERAN FLANAGAN notched eight points and a team-best nine rebounds.

SCOUTING THE OSPREYS 
The Ospreys (22-4, 15-3 NJAC) held on to knock off No. 8 The College of New Jersey 71-67 Tuesday evening. Leading by as much as 20, the Lions fought back and clawed within three with 14 seconds to go. DJ Campbell hit four free throws late in the game to preserve the victory. Campbell led the Ospreys with 19 points as Kadian Dawkins tallied 18 points and nine boards in the win.

SEASON SERIES
The Ospreys took both games against Montclair State this year. They won 89-82 at The Sports Center, with the Red Hawks battling back from a 20-point hole to get within five points before falling. Stockton notched a 90-78 win in the rematch, outscoring MSU 53-40 in the second half.
  
SERIES HISTORY
The Red Hawks have struggled against Stockton, as they are 30-53 all-time. The Ospreys have taken 13 of the last 15 matchups. Their previous victory came on January 6, 2018, as they notched a 77-64 triumph down in Galloway. In the win, Eddie Emedoh tallied 20 points and 11 rebounds off the bench. This will be the 13th meeting in the postseason and the first since Montclair picked up a 61-60 victory in the Opening Round of the 2011 NJAC Tournament.
