Montclair, NJ – The Montclair State baseball team closes out their three-game set against Catholic with a doubleheader Sunday.

LAST TIME OUT
On Saturday, the Red Hawks (3-1) cruised past Catholic 19-0 in the opener. PATRICK CUCCURULLO tossed six no-hit innings as relievers MATTHEW TIPLADY, and NICK DESIDERIO combined to allow one hit over the final three. Montclair pounded out 15 hits, with JORDEN JURKIEWICZ hitting two home runs and JASON MOORE belting another. Moore added two doubles, as those two, along with SAM ANGELO, each knocked in four runs.

SCOUTING THE CARDINALS
This season, Catholic is 2-2, splitting a doubleheader with Cabrini before knocking off Stevenson 11-5 Wednesday. Designated hitter Peter Giombetti had a monster day, going 3-for-4 with six RBI, and blasted two home runs in the victory over Stevenson.
 
SERIES HISTORY
The Red Hawks hold a 4-1 advantage against the Cardinals. Montclair State won their first game in 1985 before taking 2-of-3 in 2020.
 
LAST MEETING
The Cardinals notched a 5-4 come-from-behind win in the finale of a three-game series on February 23, 2020. Montclair led 4-1 entering the sixth, but Catholic tallied a pair of runs in the sixth and eighth innings for the 5-4 victory. HAYDEN REYES went 3-for-4 in the setback for Montclair.
