Baseball: Game Day Preview vs. TCNJ

Montclair, NJ – The Montclair State baseball team hosts The College of New Jersey in a doubleheader Saturday.

The first pitch at Yogi Berra Stadium is scheduled for 11:30 am, with live stats and video available on montclairathletics.com.
 
HALL OF FAME
The Red Hawks will retire John Deutsch's #27 at 11 am as part of the Alumni Appreciation Day festivities in a pregame ceremony. Deutsch, who was inducted into the College Baseball Hall of Fame in 2020, will become just the third student-athlete in school history to have their number retired, joining MSU icons Sam Mills (#62) and Carol Blazejowski (#12). 
 
LAST TIME OUT
The Red Hawks (22-7, 7-1 NJAC) breezed past NJCU 28-9 Friday afternoon. RYAN MCKENNA knocked in seven runs while MILES FEASTER went 3-for-4 with six RBI as the Red Hawks pounded out 29 hits, two shy of the single game record. JOE GISONDA and SAM ANGELO also tallied home runs in the win.

SCOUTING THE LIONS
TCNJ is 12-11 overall and holds a 3-4 mark in the NJAC. They are coming off a 5-4 triumph over Alvernia on Tuesday, as leadoff hitter Mike Lagravenis had three hits and two RBI in the win.
 
SERIES HISTORY
Montclair State holds a 108-81-2 record against the Lions and snapped a six-game losing skid with a win last season. The Red Hawks are 30-20 at home and are 71-50 in NJAC action.
 
LAST MEETING
After trailing 5-0 after the top of the first inning last season, the Red Hawks scored the next 21 tallies en route to a 21-5 triumph. MILES FEASTER and SAM ANGELO collected three hits apiece, while Feaster and ERIC HAVNER knocked in three runs. JACK HAVESON allowed one hit in 6 2/3 innings of relief, adding seven strikeouts.
