Montclair, NJ – The Montclair State baseball team hosts nationally-ranked Rowan University in a doubleheader Saturday.

LAST TIME OUT
The Red Hawks (17-6) swept Rutgers-Newark in a pair of one-run games Saturday afternoon. They won 5-4 in the opener as PETER COSENTINO homered, and JACK HAVESON went 2 1/3 frames to earn his fifth save of the season. Montclair trailed 8-5 entering the eighth inning in the nightcap before Jordan Jurkiewicz hit a two-run double in the eighth, and ANTHONY GUARINO brought in two runs on an error in the ninth. DARREN GONZALEZ, NICHOLAS SEFICK, and ETHAN GONZALEZ tossed 2 2/3 scoreless innings of relief to give the team the victory.

SCOUTING THE PROFS
The Profs are 15-4 on the season and 2-0 within the NJAC. They have won four straight games, with their lone setback coming in the second game of a doubleheader against Messiah. Rowan opened NJAC play with two wins over William Paterson, winning 16-0 and coming from behind to win 14-10 in the second game.
 
SERIES HISTORY
Montclair State holds an 89-66 mark in the all-time series, with the Profs having notched wins in four of the last five meetings. The Red Hawks best stretch came from May 9, 1993 – April 20, 1996, when they tallied wins in eight consecutive games.
 
LAST MEETING
The Red Hawks were knocked off in both ends of a twinbill against Rowan on May 1, 2021. They fell 7-4 in the opener despite nine strikeouts from PATRICK CUCCURULLO. In the nightcap, they were defeated 14-1, with REECE MALEK driving in the lone run with a sacrifice fly.
