Baseball: Game Day Preview vs. TCNJ (NJAC Tournament)

Montclair, NJ – The Montclair State baseball team hosts The College of New Jersey in the First Round of the New Jersey Athletic Conference Championship Tuesday.

GAME INFO
The first pitch at Yogi Berra Stadium is scheduled for 3:30 pm, with live stats and video available on montclairathletics.com.

TICKET INFORMATION
Ticket prices for all rounds of the 2022 NJAC Baseball Championship (including contests at campus sites) are $5.00 for adults; $2.00 for students (with ID); $2.00 for senior citizens; and $2.00 for children. All ticket sales are CASH ONLY.

LAST TIME OUT
The Red Hawks (30-9, 15-3 NJAC) took down Rutgers-Camden in a doubleheader Saturday afternoon, winning 13-7 and 8-4. JOE NORTON went 4-for-6 at the top of the lineup, while PETER COSENTINO, MILES FEASTER, ANDREW OLLWERTHER, and ANTHONY GUARINO collected three hits. NICHOLAS SEFICK threw 4 1/3 shutout innings to earn his fifth win in relief of the year. In the second game, Cosentino and JORDEN JURKIEWICZ homered while BRIAN REISS tossed 7 1/3 innings to gain the victory.

SCOUTING THE LIONS
The Lions are 19-16 on the season and finished 9-9 within the NJAC. They ended the season on a high note, winning seven of their last nine. Included in those victories were wins over then-No. 14 Kean and then-No. 8 Arcadia.
  
SERIES HISTORY
Montclair State holds a 110-81-2 record against the Lions and snapped a six-game losing skid with a win last season. The Red Hawks are 32-20 at home and are 10-8 all-time against TCNJ in the NJAC Postseason.

LAST MEETING
The Red Hawks swept a doubleheader against TCNJ on Alumni Appreciation Day earlier this season. In game one, PETER COSENTINO hit a walk-off single to complete a ninth-inning comeback as MSU won 4-3 before Cosentino and Jurkiewicz knocked in two runs during an 8-3 triumph in game two.

UP NEXT
The conference tournament shifts to Kean beginning on Friday. The winner of this game will face the winner of William Paterson/Kean Friday at 7 pm, while the loser will face the loser of Rowan/Ramapo at noon Friday.
