Montclair, NJ – The Montclair State University baseball team concludes its four-game West Coast trip with a clash against University of Redlands on Tuesday afternoon.

LAST TIME OUT
Montclair knocked off Occidental College 8-1 to complete a three-game sweep of the Tigers on Sunday, March 11. JOE GISONDA kicked off the scoring in the second with a leadoff home run, and SAM ANGELO hit one of his own to start the fifth. JASON MOORE doubled to center field later in the frame to drive in two more, and MARCUS JOHNSON homered in the sixth to make the margin five. Montclair tacked on three more runs in the waning stages of the contest to complete the sweep. The Red Hawks outscored the Tigers 30-12 over three days and have now won nine games overall, seven of which featuring a six-plus run performance.

SCOUTING REDLANDS
The Bulldogs enter Tuesday's contest with a 7-9 mark and will look to snap a six game losing streak. They kicked off their 2024 campaign with wins in six of their first seven, including a win at California Lutheran University. Redlands also has a victory at #14 University of La Verne and has six more games against teams either currently ranked or receiving votes. They fell 20-12 in eight innings to Pomona-Pitzer in their most recent contest on Saturday, March 9. The Bulldogs were tabbed sixth in the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Preseason Coaches Poll and return All-American pitcher Tyler Reiter, who had the fourth lowest earned run average in the country last season at 1.46. 

SERIES HISTORY
Montclair leads the all-time series against Redlands 6-1, with the two sides meeting for the first time since the 2006 season. All seven of the prior clashes have taken place in the state of California, with one being at a neutral site in Pomona. The Red Hawks have put up double-digit run totals in five of the seven games against Redlands.

LAST MEETING
Montclair fell to Redlands 21-11 on March 14, 2006. The Red Hawks took a 1-0 lead in the first, but the Bulldogs responded with four runs in the second and extended the lead to 10-1 after five innings. Montclair cut into the deficit with five runs in the sixth, but Redlands countered with five of their own in the bottom half of the frame, and outscored the Red Hawks 6-5 the rest of the way. The Red Hawks collected 17 hits in the contest, including three hits and three RBI from Michael Nunes.

UP NEXT
The Red Hawks will host Trinity College (CT) in a doubleheader on Saturday, March 16. First pitch from Yogi Berra Stadium is scheduled for 1:00 PM and 4:00 PM.
