LAST TIME OUT
Montclair defeated Occidental 7-3 on Friday, March 8. The Tigers took an early lead on a solo home run in the bottom of the second, and the Red Hawks answered in the top of the fourth on a solo homer from RYAN MCKENNA. After Occidental reclaimed the advantage in the bottom of the frame, Montclair immediately responded in the fifth with a MARCUS JOHNSON RBI single and a two-run home run from SAM ANGELO. Montclair added two more runs in the sixth, and after Occidental brought a runner home in the eighth, the Red Hawks added their seventh tally of the contest in the ninth to seal the victory. Montclair has won seven straight games, scoring six or more runs in five of those contests.

SCOUTING OCCIDENTAL
The Tigers enter Saturday's contest with a mark of 6-9 for the 2024 campaign, already surpassing their 2023 win total. They opened the season with wins in three of their first four before falling in seven straight contests. Occidental swept California Institute of Technology during a three-game weekend set from March 1-3, outscoring the Beavers 17-2 in those contests. Montclair marks the first New Jersey opponent for the Tigers since 2019, when they fell to Drew University 6-5. Occidental was tabbed seventh in the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Preseason Coaches Poll, 18 points behind Montclair's opponent on March 12, the University of Redlands.

SERIES HISTORY
Montclair has claimed both meetings with Occidental, outscoring the Tigers 31-10. Prior to this weekend's series, the only previous clash between the two sides came during the 1998 season, when Montclair defeated Occidental 24-7.

LAST MEETING
Montclair defeated Occidental 7-3 on Friday, March 8 to open the three-game set between the two sides. RYAN MCKENNA and SAM ANGELO each hit home runs, with MAX MCLOUGHLIN tallying a career-high three hits. JACK HAVESON earned his third win of the season on the mound, striking out six over five and two thirds innings pitched. Five Red Hawks collected two or more hits in the contest.
