LAST TIME OUT
Montclair was edged by NJCU 5-4 on Thursday, April 18 at Yogi Berra Stadium. The Gothic Knights took the lead in the second inning, plating runs on a groundout and a passed ball. MAX MCLOUGHLIN led off the bottom of the third with a single to left field, and later advanced to second on a hit from MILES FEASTER. SAM ANGELO doubled to left center to drive in both runners to level the contest. NJCU struck for three runs in the sixth, including two on an RBI single to left center following a double steal. MARCUS JOHNSON tripled to left center in the seventh to score Feaster, but the visitors later escaped a bases loaded jam to end the rally. Montclair made another push in the ninth, as MATTEO PASCULLI drew a lead off walk. With two runners on later in the inning, NJCU intentionally walked Angelo to load the bases. MATT SHUHET made it a one-run deficit on a sacrifice fly, but the Gothic Knights secured the final out to seal the win.

SCOUTING NJCU
The Gothic Knights enter Friday's contest with a 11-17 mark on the 2024 campaign, with a 5-6 record in New Jersey Athletic Conference play. After winning two of their first three, NJCU fell in five straight before bouncing back with three consecutive victories. They fell to Muhlenberg and Old Westbury before their New Jersey Athletic Conference opener, where they were swept by Rutgers-Camden. The Gothic Knights have conference victories over Kean, TCNJ, and Rutgers-Newark, as well as Montclair in their most recent contest on Thursday, April 14. NJCU went 13-27 during the 2023 season and was tabbed 10th in the 2024 NJAC Preseason Coaches Poll.

SERIES HISTORY
Montclair is 120-18-1 all-time against NJCU dating back to 1937. The Red Hawks have scored 11 or more runs in eight of the last nine meetings, and 23 or more runs in three of the last five. Since the start of the 2000 season, Montclair is 41-6 against NJCU. The Red Hawks hold a 34-4 all-time record on the road against the Gothic Knights.

LAST MEETING
Montclair narrowly fell 5-4 to NJCU on Thursday, April 18 at Yogi Berra Stadium. Down 2-0 in the third, SAM ANGELO doubled to left center to drive in two runs and level the contest. NJCU reopened a lead in the sixth on two RBI singles, one set up by a double steal. MARCUS JOHNSON tripled to left center to cut into the deficit in the seventh, but the Gothic Knights escaped a bases loaded jam. MATT SHUHET used a sacrifice fly to cut the NJCU lead to one in the ninth, but the visitors held on for the road victory. PATRICK CUCCURULLO finished with a season-high seven strikeouts over 5.2 innings pitched, and MILES FEASTER led the team with three hits.
