Montclair, NJ – The #20 Montclair State University baseball team hosts The College of New Jersey on Senior Day to conclude the regular season on Saturday afternoon.

LAST TIME OUT
Montclair fell to Rutgers-Camden 8-5 on Friday, April 26. The Red Hawks started the contest strong, putting runners on first and second for JOE GISONDA, who singled to center field to drive in the first run of the contest. Rutgers-Camden tied the contest early in the third inning, and took a three-run lead later in the frame on three-consecutive RBI singles. After adding another run in the sixth on a balk, the Scarlet Raptors added to their lead in the seventh with four hits, including three RBI doubles to make the margin seven with two innings remaining. The Red Hawks pushed in the ninth, putting the first three runners on base for DANNY CORCORAN, who doubled to right field and advanced to third on a throwing error to clear the bases. MATT SHUHET cut the margin to three with a sacrifice fly during the next at-bat, but Rutgers-Camden secured the final out for the victory.

SCOUTING TCNJ
The Lions enter Saturday's twinbill with a 7-9 mark in New Jersey Athletic Conference play and a 19-15 record for the 2024 campaign. They kicked off their season with 12-consecutive victories, including a 15-7 triumph over #7 Wisconsin-La Crosse. TCNJ dropped their next four before responding with four-straight wins. The Lions are 3-11 over their last 14 games, with their 13-5 victory against Ramapo on April 26 snapping a losing streak of nine games dating back to April 13. The Lions posted a 24-24 record last year and went 4-1 during the NJAC Tournament to secure the conference's automatic bid in the NCAA Tournament. TCNJ was tabbed fourth in the 2024 NJAC Preseason Coaches Poll.

SERIES HISTORY
Montclair is 111-84-2 all-time against TCNJ in a series dating back to 1929, with the Lions claiming the last three contests, all coming during the 2023 campaign. Prior to last season, Montclair had won five-straight against TCNJ, including four games at Yogi Berra Stadium. The Red Hawks are 33-20 against the Lions all-time at home and 6-4 over the last 10 meetings at Montclair.

LAST MEETING
Montclair fell to TCNJ 12-5 in the NJAC Tournament on May 6, 2023. The Lions struck first in the second with a run, but the Red Hawks countered with two of their own in the third on a leadoff solo home run from JOE GISONDA and consecutive doubles from REECE MALEK and RYAN MCKENNA. TCNJ took the lead back in the fourth, putting up four runs, and extended their advantage to 8-2 in the fifth. The Lions added four more runs over the next two innings to build a double-digit advantage, but Montclair cut into the lead in the ninth. After Gisonda singled and McKenna walked, SAM ANGELO homered to right field to establish the final margin.
