Churchill Sets School Record in Mile as Women's Track & Field Competes at Ramapo Opener

New York, NY The Montclair State University women's track & field team kicked off their 2025 slate at the Ramapo Opener on Friday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • ABIGAIL CHURCHILL led the way for Montclair in the mile, notching a time of 5:22.17 and a 17th place finish. DENISSE AGUILAR (5:26.42, 21st) and TORI SUTERA (5:28.79, 24th) followed close behind in the event. JULIE MURPHY finished with a mark of 5:34.72, and LILIANA SNYDER clocked in at 5:48.69.
  • In the 3000m, BRIANNA RODDY collected a time of 11:24.03 and a 20th place finish. ALISSA TAYLOR notched a mark of 12:39.27 in the event.
  • Michelle Ituoa finished 12th in the 200m at 26.55, with MAILE O'NEILL (27.28), MCKAY ALBY (27.44), and ODALYS GUERRERO-DOMINQUEZ (27.93) also competing. O'Neill notched a time of 8.12 in the 60m prelims, with Ituoa close behind at 8.14.
  • Churchill led Montclair in the 800m with a 17th place finish and a mark of 2:29.36, with Aguilar close behind at 2:31.14.
  • In the field events, MAYA YESALONIS tallied 13.85m in the weight throw for a seventh place finish, and 10.78m in the shot put, placing her sixth.
INSIDE THE RESULTS
  • Churchill's time of 5:22.17 in the mile set a new program record, surpassing the previous mark of 5:23.35, set by AUBREY JOHNSON in 2024. Aguilar's time in the event now ranks third, with Sutera ranking fifth in program history in her first collegiate race.
  • The 13.85m mark in the weight throw ranks third in program history for Yesalonis, passing her previous personal best of 13.32m, set during the 2024 campaign.
  • Roddy's finish of 11:24.03 places her fifth all-time in program history, surpassing Nicole Presti's mark of 11:29.93 in 2011.
  • Aguilar (mile) and Guerrero-Dominquez (200m) each notched new personal bests during the afternoon.

UP NEXT
The Red Hawks will compete in the Moravian Indoor Meet on Saturday, January 18, with the meet scheduled to start at 10:00 AM in Bethlehem, PA.
