Women's Track & Field Wins Five Events at Seamus McElligott Invitational

Haverford, PA – The Montclair State University women's track & field team was victorious in five events as they competed in the Seamus McElligott Invitational on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Red Hawks were led by SARAH LUMAS, who won the high jump with a mark of 1.40m. In the weight throw, MAYA YESALONIS notched a third-place mark of 14.62m, which ranks second in program history and helped her qualify for AARTFC Regionals.
Montclair placed seven in the top eight of the 60m, led by MCKAY ALBY's time of 8.01 to win the event and FAITH WILLIAMS, who finished second with a mark of 8.24. Michelle Ituoa (8.27), MAILE O'NEILL (8.29), JESSICA HOLLER (8.30), AISHA GARCIA (8.33), and ALEXA ALI (8.37) rounded out the top eight.
BRIANNA RODDY took home a first place finish in the 5k with a time of 20:53.04, a mark that ranks fifth in program history.
In the mile, ABIGAIL CHURCHILL notched a victory in the event, clocking in at 5:23.07, as the Red Hawks placed four of the top five. DENISSE AGUILAR was close behind in second with a time of 5:31.45, with TORI SUTERA (5:38.22) and LILIANA SNYDER (5:44.14) rounding out the group at fourth and fifth.
The group of O'Neill, Ali, Ituoa, and Alby took first in the 4x200m with a time of 1:53.11. Montclair placed two other teams in the top four of the event, finishing third and fourth.
The 4x400m relay team of NYLA HANNAH, ODALYS GUERRERO-DOMINQUEZ, KAELYN RODRIGUEZ, and DEANNA HEPPLE placed second, clocking in at 4:20.72.
JULIE MURPHY placed third in the 3k with a time of 11:13.05, which ranks fourth in program history.
In the triple jump, JULIA ACEVEDO notched a second place mark of 10.55m, with SARAH LUMAS placing ninth all-time at 9.77m, a season-best. Acevedo also placed second in the long jump (4.95m), with Rodriguez placing third at 4.79m.

INSIDE THE RESULTS

Snyder's time in the mile placed her ninth in program history and second among freshmen.
VICTORIA BERLINSKI notched a mark of 10.63m in the weight throw, which ranks 10th in program history for the event. JAYLIN APONTE (10.44m) and CHLOE BRIJBAG (9.53m) now place fourth and fifth respectively in program history among freshmen.
Holler and Ali each notched new personal bests in the 60m. KENDALL HALL placed fifth in the 60m hurdles at 10.36, with Holler notching a season-best 10.49.
Yesalonis placed ninth in the shot put at 11.05m, an indoor personal best that ranks seventh in program history. Brijbag's mark of 10.05m places her seventh among freshmen all-time.
MARYAM KARIYM finished sixth in the 200m at 29.06, with Cianna Flemming (29.74), KAYLA OVERTON (29.97), and Lindsay Calixte (31.02) all recording new season-bests.

The Red Hawks will participate in the Fastrack Invite on Friday, February 7th, at the Ocean Breeze Track & Field Center. The meet is slated to start at 12pm in Staten Island, NY.
