Women’s Indoor Track & Field Finds Multiple Personal Bests at Fastrack Invite

Staten Island, NY- The Montclair State University Women's Indoor Track and Field team found multiple best marks on Saturday when they competed in the Fastrack Invite at the Ocean Breeze Track & Field Invite.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Both MCKAY ALBY and Maile O'Neil earned personal-best marks in the 60m and 200m dashes. Alby clocked 7.93 in the 60m and 25.97 in the 200m while O'Neil timed 7.95 in the 60m and 27.02 in the 200m
  • Also earning a personal record in the 200m dash was ALEXA ALI when she clocked in at 26.89.
  • In distance events, DENISSE AGUILAR posted a time of 18:38.16 in the 5000m run which placed fourth overall and second among DIII while JULIE MURPHY set a season-best time of 11:03.11 in the 3000m run.
  • Among others in the 60m dash, MICHELLE ITOUA was under the eight-second mark with a 7.99, FAITH WILLIAMS tied a season-best of 8.09 and AISHA GARCIA clocked a personal-best mark of 8.13.
  • In the 800m dash, Lili Synder posted a team-best mark of 2:28.94. She was followed by TORI SUTERA who finished with a 2:29.46.
  • In the field, Montclair was headed by KAELYN RODRIGUEZ in the long jump, who posted a mark of 5.02m (16' 5"), which was the best mark of any Red Hawk this season.
 
INSIDE THE RESULTS
  • Alby and O'Neil continue to shine in their first year, becoming the fastest two freshmen in the 60m dash in program history at one and two after this meet. McKay's mark is also second all-time behind Itoua's regional mark last season while O'Neil ranks third all-time in the event. McKay also notched the second-fastest all-time and freshman mark in the 200m while O'Neil's time is 10th among freshman all-time
  • Aguilar's mark clocked in at the second fastest 5k time in program history while Murphy's 3k sits at fourth all-time.
  • Other all-time program freshman marks during the event saw Synder's 800m place third (seventh among all-time list) and Garcia's 60m time which sits at fifth.
  • Among other all-time lists; Sutera's 800m mark is the 10th best all-time and Rodriguez's long jump sits at sixth all-time.

UP NEXT
  • Montclair State University will split in half next weekend with some of the team set to compete in the Boston University Valentine Invite and some set to compete in the NYU Division III Invite next Saturday, February 15.
