Women’s Indoor Track & Field Notches Five on All-NJAC List

Pitman, NJ – The New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) announced Tuesday afternoon that the Montclair State University Women's Indoor Track & Field team secured five spots on the All-NJAC list following the NJAC Championships held a few weeks ago.

Leading the way was MCKAY ALBY, who earned two spots on the All-NJAC list with a Second Team selection in the 60-meter dash and an Honorable Mention in the 200-meter dash. JULIA ACEVEDO received Honorable Mention honors in both the triple jump and the pentathlon, while the 4x200 relay team of MICHELLE ITOUA, ALEXA ALI, MAILE O'NEILL, and Alby also earned Honorable Mention recognition.

Alby secured her placements after finishing second in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.77 seconds, setting a new school record. She also placed third in the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.81 seconds, earning Honorable Mention. Her 7.77-second performance makes her just the second Red Hawk to earn All-NJAC honors in the 60-meter event, following Imani Jones (2012-13). Additionally, her Second Team selection marks the highest placement in program history for the event. She also became the seventh Red Hawk to receive 200-meter recognition and the first since Imani Jones and Ashley Powell in 2012-13.

Acevedo made history as Montclair State's first-ever medalist and All-NJAC selection in the pentathlon, earning Honorable Mention. She also became just the second triple jumper in program history to receive All-NJAC honors, joining Sara Douma, who earned First Team recognition in 2010-11.

The 4x200 relay team of Itoua, Ali, O'Neill, and Alby earned an Honorable Mention with a third-place finish at the NJAC Championships, posting a time of 1:44.73. They are now the eighth relay team in program history to earn an All-NJAC accolade, continuing the Red
Hawks' strong tradition in the event. Montclair State has had an All-NJAC placement in the 4x200 relay in three of the last four seasons.

Next, Montclair State University will compete at the AARTFC Regional Championships hosted by Ithaca College this weekend. The two-day event begins on Friday, March 7.
