Three From Baseball Named to All-NJAC Team

Pitman, NJ – The New Jersey Athletic Conference announced Friday afternoon that three Montclair State University baseball players have been named to the All-NJAC Team for the 2024 season.
CHASE FISCHER, JARED LEVIS, and BILLY TIGAR each earned Honorable Mention recognition for their standout performances with the Red Hawks.

CHASE FISCHER received All-NJAC honors at third base in his first season with Montclair State. He posted a .353 batting average, collecting 36 hits, 34 RBIs, seven doubles, eight home runs, and 28 runs scored. His 34 RBIs and eight home runs led the team, with five of those home runs coming in conference play, tied for the fourth-most in the NJAC. Defensively, he recorded 60 putouts and 38 assists. Fischer's highlight performance came on March 21 against Lesley, when he went 4-for-5 with two RBIs, two doubles, and four runs scored.

JARED LEVIS earned his first All-NJAC nod as an outfielder. He started all 40 games this season, batting .320 with 55 hits, 34 RBIs, four doubles, two triples, two home runs, and 37 runs scored. He also tallied 21 stolen bases, ranking sixth in the conference. Defensively, Levis notched 97 putouts and 14 assists. His top performance came on February 25 against Mount Saint Vincent, when he recorded two hits, three RBIs, a run scored, and a stolen base.

BILLY TIGAR, a sophomore first baseman, also made his debut on the All-NJAC list. He led the team with a .384 batting average, adding 43 hits, 32 RBIs, 11 doubles, four home runs, and 28 runs scored. His nine doubles in NJAC play were the most in the conference, and he ranked among the top 10 in nearly every major batting category during league play. Defensively, Tigar totaled 216 putouts and 10 assists, boasting a .991 fielding percentage. His standout game came during a 15-15 tie against TCNJ, where he went 4-for-6 with six RBIs, three doubles, a home run, and two runs scored.

Montclair State will aim to extend its season on Saturday, May 3, when the Red Hawks face Rutgers-Camden in the second round of the NJAC Tournament at Yogi Berra Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
