Pair of Top-Five Finishes for Women's Track & Field Headline Day Two of Schuylkill Showcase

Philadelphia, PA – The Montclair State University women's track and field team concluded its two-day competition at the Schuylkill Showcase on Sunday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Red Hawks were led by a pair of top-five finishes, as MAILE O'NEILL took third in the 60m with a time of 7.84 seconds, and MICEL MARTINEZ notched fifth in the high jump with a mark of 1.45m.
Montclair had a strong showing in the 60m, as MCKAY ALBY (7.92 seconds) placed eighth, with AISHA GARCIA (8.03 seconds) ranking 13th. ALAIA-ZANII TAYLOR was right behind in 14th at 8.04 seconds, marking a personal-best while ranking eighth in program history in the event and becoming an AARTFC qualifying mark.
ABIGAIL CHURCHILL saw a top ten finish in the mile, placing sixth with a time of 5:18.92. In the long jump, ZAIDA TAYLOR-BURCH ranked seventh with a mark of 4.95m.
With a mark of 10.42m in the triple jump, MARYAM KARIYM finished eighth in the field and now ranks sixth in program history in the event.

INSIDE THE RESULTS

JESSICA HOLLER recorded a personal-record in the 60m hurdles, clocking in at 9.80 seconds. O'Neill did the same in the 200m with a time of 26.36 seconds, while Alby (26.21 seconds), KAELYN RODRIGUEZ (27.27 seconds), and ALEXA ALI (27.65 seconds) all notched season-bests in the event.
In the 800m, ODALYS GUERRERO-DOMINGUEZ tallied a personal-best at 2:30.57, finishing 10th, with MACKENZIE COCHRAN also recording a career-best at 2:38.45.
ALISSA TAYLOR's time of 6:24.69 in the mile marked a new season-best.

UP NEXT

The Red Hawks will compete in the Friday Night River Hawk Showdown, hosted by Susquehanna University, on Friday, February 6. The meet in Selinsgrove, PA is scheduled to start at 5:00 PM.
