Pitman, NJ- Announced on Monday afternoon by the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) office, the Montclair State University Red Hawks saw five of its student athletes get named as Athletes of the Week for their respective sports. These five athletes spanned three sports and were honored for their performances between March 16 and 23.

JOHN TOMSHO was named the NJAC Player of the Week for baseball. Representing softball were
ZOE TURNER and
BROOKE MCHALE, who won Rookie of the Week and Rookie Pitcher of the Week, respectively.
JAHMIR BEAL was named Track Athlete of the Week, while
MARKOS HANTSOULIS was named Rookie of the Week for men's outdoor track and field.

Tomsho showed out during Montclair State's 3-1 week. The freshman outfielder batted .533 with eight RBI, six runs scored, a double, a home run, and three stolen bases. He capped off his week going 3-for-3 with four RBI, three runs scored, a double, a home run, and a stolen base to lead Montclair to a 13-3 win on Sunday against Westfield State.

Turner was exceptional in helping lead Montclair to a 4-0 week. She batted .364 with four hits, an RBI, six runs, and stole a total of 10 bases. She is currently tied for the league lead in stolen bases (19) and is already halfway to a program record.

McHale made the most of her two opportunities this week in Montclair's 4-0 week. On Thursday in game two against Stevens, she entered in relief and pitched five scoreless innings, allowing just three hits and striking out two batters to earn the win in a 5-4 triumph against the Ducks. She came back on Saturday against Hunter and pitched one scoreless inning with only two hits allowed and struck out a batter to close out an 8-0 win in five innings. In her only at-bat of the game as well, she recorded her first collegiate hit and RBI.

Beal opened up the season with a great run of 22.03 in the 200-meter dash at the Stockton Invitational on Saturday. His time is the top time in the NJAC and the Metro Region and ranks 34th best in the nation after the opening weekend.

Hantsoulis started his Red Hawk career with a bang, throwing a program record 67.55m javelin throw. His throw ranks second in the NJAC, second in the Metro region, and is the second-best throw in the country after the first week.

Tomsho earns back-to-back NJAC weekly awards after being named Rookie of the Week last week. The rest of the field earned their first weekly awards from the NJAC. It's also the most Red Hawks that have earned weekly awards on the same week since October 27 (5).
