Matesic & Tarabokia Earn NJAC Rookie Pitcher of the Week Awards

Pitman, NJ- Announced on Monday afternoon by the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) office, Montclair State University baseball freshman CHRIS MATESIC and softball freshman JORDAN TARABOKIA earned NJAC Rookie Pitchers of the Week for their respective sports during the week of March 30 to April 5.
 
Matesic was electric in his lone appearance for Montclair this week. In his start against #7 Rowan, he went 7.1 innings and allowed just two runs on seven hits and struck out a season-high eight batters to secure the win for the Red Hawks and improve his record to 6-0 on the season.
 
Tarabokia had another solid week for the Red Hawks. She notched an ERA of 2.93 in three outings this week and struck out eight batters. Her highlight performance came on Saturday when she pitched a seven-inning win, allowing just three runs on six hits and striking out five to propel Montclair to a 5-3 win against Rutgers-Newark.
 
Matesic earned this honor for the first time in his career, while Tarabokia nabbed Rookie Pitcher of the Week for the third time this season.
 
Baseball returns to action on Thursday, April 9, when they travel to take on nationally-ranked Kean at 3:30 p.m. Softball is set for an NJAC doubleheader on Tuesday, April 7, against William Paterson, starting at 3:00 p.m.
