Sakiri was chosen as the New Jersey Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week following an outstanding start to the 2012 season. Sakiri, making his first career start, had a tremendous game with 19 tackles in the Red Hawks' 31-21 loss to Lebanon Valley in the MAC-NJAC Challenge at Sprague Field on Saturday. Sakiri's 19 tackles were the most by an MSU player since Cornell Hunt had 20 against Springfield in 2007 and were three shy of the MSU single-game record held by College Football Hall of Fame member Sam Mills. Sakiri's effort helped MSU limit the Flying Dutchmen to 288 yards of offense, including 62 in the second half.  Sakiri currently leads the NJAC in tackles.
