Bert Palmeri lettered three years in basketball, football and track, and was a fine all-around athlete.

In football, Palmeri was a rugged two-way lineman for coach Alden Coder's squad. As a sophomore in 1948, he played a key role on the once-beaten squad, and scored a touchdown.

On the basketball court, Palmeri was a valuable member of the 18-2 squad of 1948-49, which posted the best winning percentage in MSC history. His had the sixth-best scoring average. The next season, the Indians went 14-7 with Palmeri moving into the role of a starter. Injuries limited his play the next season.

Palmeri was quite the standout in track and field for coach Richard Willing. In both 1950 and 1951, the track teams turned out 6-1 records and Palmeri was a big reason as a premier discus thrower and shot-putter.

Palmeri earned the MacMillan-Agora Memorial Trophy as the Outstanding Athlete of 1951 and was a member of the English Honor Society.

Palmeri taught in the Hoboken school system for over forty years and was a resident of Weehawken. Palmeri passed away in 2010.
