Dan Mendoza had a knack for scoring the big goal, putting away 15 career game-winning goals over his four seasons. He led the Red Hawks in goals and points in his first two campaigns and was second in the New Jersey Athletic Conference in goals and third in points during the 2011 season. He turned it on in the postseason of 2011, scoring both goals in the NJAC Semifinal victory over William Paterson. In the second overtime in the NCAA Second Round, his free kick in the 104th minute sent the Red Hawks to the Sweet 16, where they would eventually make the Final Four for the first time.

A four-time All-NJAC performer, Mendoza was recognized as First Team All-America selection by the National Soccer Coaches Association and D3soccer.com during the 2012 campaign, where the Red Hawks advanced to the Sectional Final. Once again, he became a difference as the calendar turned to November. He scored the game-winner in the First Round win over Salve Regina before tallying an assist and a penalty kick score to help Montclair knock off Oneonta in the Second Round. Mendoza capped off the year by scoring the lone goal in the Sectional Final against Ohio Northern.

He finished his Montclair career sixth all-time in goals (41) and points (100) and was the all-time leader in game-winning goals (15) at the time of graduation. Presently, he sits second in game-winning goals and eighth in both points and goals. In addition to being a four-time All-NJAC performer, Mendoza was tabbed as the NJAC Midfielder of the Year in 2012 while also claiming All-Region honors in 2012 and 2013.
