Gonzalez fashioned one of the finest career in men's basketball history capped off by one of the best seasons of any athlete in 2006. He was All-NJAC selection each of his first two seasons with the Red Hawks and was chosen All-Region by the D3Hoops and the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) in 2005 after averaging 17.9 points and 6.7 rebounds while shooting .524 from the field and .858 at the free throw line. Those two seasons would pale in comparison to his senior year of 2006 when he was regarded as one of the best players in Division III. Gonzalez averaged a single-season record 27.0 points per game, 8.9 rebounds and shot .573 from the floor while boasting a .883 percentage at the foul line, another MSU single-season mark. Gonzalez also broke two long-standing records scoring 51 points against Lincoln University in early January and later making 58 consecutive free throws. He was a First-Team All-NJAC selection and was named Player of the Year for the NJAC, ECAC and D3Hoops.com Atlantic Region while earning spots on each organization's All-Star Teams. Gonzalez was named to All-American Teams by D3Hoops and the NABC and was a finalist for the Jostens Trophy presented to the Division III Player of the Year. Gonzalez, selected as the NJAC Male Athlete of the Year for 2007, finished his career ranked fifth all-time in scoring with 1,394 points and was fourth in field goal percentage (.551), second in free throws made (512) and first in free-throw percentage (.853).  Gonzalez has gone on to become a keynote speaker for several corporations across the nation and was in the nation's spotlight in 2011 with his now famous "All-In" speech given to the New York Giants prior to the team's run toward the Super Bowl XLVI championship.
