A four-year varsity baseball player, and two-year varsity football player, Peter Horn distinguished himself as a fine athlete for Montclair State in the 1970s. With his successful baseball career culminating in 1976 with his selection to the Division III All-American Team as an Honorable Mention pick, Horn was Montclair State’s centerfielder and one of its more prolific hitter during his time. He also did double-duty as the football kicker as a freshman and sophomore including playing fall baseball during he football seasons. He was a First-Team All-New Jersey Conference selection in 1976 and in 1978 and was also on the First-Team All-State during both of those years. William Paterson also remembers Horn as a Pioneer killer, as there were three MSC wins over WPC attributed to the bat of Horn, including a game-winning home run in the ninth inning to defeat William Paterson 7-6 in 1978. Interestingly enough, the MSC baseball captain, known for his hitting, got into the Montclair State record book for most walks in a game with four set in 1977 versus Ramapo College.
