One of the best defenders in the history of the women’s soccer program, Gabby White was instrumental in the rise of the Red Hawks to national prominence during the early part of the 2000s. After seeing plenty of action during her first season in 2001, White became a fixture in the MSU defensive unit and made Montclair State one of the toughest teams to score against the next three years. She earned the first of her three All-NJAC honors in 2002 and was named Third-Team All-Region by the National Soccer Coaches Association as she finished second on the team for assists. The Red Hawks would reach the NJAC Championship Game for the first time in its history. The next year, MSU added another first claiming the conference’s regular-season title and No. 1 seed in the NJAC Tournament as White, a repeat selection on the All-NJAC and All-Region squads, anchored a defense that surrendered just 15 goals and registered 12 shutouts in 21 contests.  White’s career finished in 2004 as she was named the NJAC Defensive Player of the Year, the second Red Hawk to achieve that accolade. Scoring against Montclair proved difficult again as it allowed 16 goals with 10 shutouts as it reached the NJAC title game for the third year in a row. After coming up short the previous two trips, the Red Hawks claimed its first conference crown knocking off perennial NCAA contender The College of New Jersey in penalty kicks to earn its first NCAA Tournament berth. White, who appeared in 78 games, recorded three goals and 10 assists in addition to her defensive prowess. Montclair State posted a 50-24-11 record during White’s career with 48 shutouts giving up just 68 goals.
