An outstanding swimmer from 1981 through 1985 at Montclair State Janet Taylor Radli was instrumental in rewriting the record books. Taylor distinguished herself many times in the pool in Panzer Gymnasium and across the country. She was the cornerstone of Montclair’s dual and team championships in the NJAIAW and the Metropolitan Conference. In 1982, during the NJAIAW Championships, she took first place in the 200 yard freestyle beating six other participants from all Division I college. In the 1983 NJAIAW Championships she took second place in the 50 and 200 and first in the 100 freestyle. At the Division III Championships for which she qualified her four years, Taylor earned All-American status eight times. She was the first group of national caliber swimmer to hit Montclair State in the early 1980s and she certainly helped made Montclair the team to beat.
