Larry Sciacchetano, an Upper Montclair resident, earned nine varsity letters, four in football, four in wrestling and one in track. Sciacchetano, who wrestled at 190, holds all-time MSC marks for most wins in a season (23), most wins by decision in a year (19), and best career record (64-11). He is the only wrestler in the 18-year history of the Metropolitan Wrestling Championship to win an individual title four years in succession. Sciacchetano, captain of the wrestling team for three years, was presented with the Sandy McMillan Award for Outstanding Participation, in his senior year. Sciacchetano also served as the head wrestling coach at Montclair, delivering the school's first NCAA Division III national championship in 1976.
