In the history of the Montclair State men’s soccer program, no player has scored more goals or points than Erik Neubart. In his four seasons in a Red Hawk uniform the talented striker found the back of the net 59 times while helping Montclair State to four straight postseason appearances, including the NCAA Division III Tournament twice and the ECAC Metro Championship in 1993. Beginning his career in 1991, Neubart scored six goals as the Red Hawks reached the NCAAs for the third straight season. The following year, Neubart began to establish himself as MSU’s top goal-scoring threat notching 16 goals and registering eight assists as he led Montclair to the NCAA Tournament again. He scored scored four against Stockton State and would be named to the All-NJAC and CSCNJ All-State Team. The 1993 season Neubart put together still ranks as one of the best as he averaged a goal per game notching 21 (seven game-winning goals) while also registering 10 assists for 52 points. It was only the third time in Montclair State history to that point that a player posted double digits in goals and assists in the same season. Neubart was again named to the All-NJAC squad and was a Regional All-American. He punctuated his outstanding season by scoring the final goal in the Red Hawks’ 3-0 win over Drew in the ECAC title game. In his senior season, Neubart capped off his career leading Montclair State in scoring with 16 goals and seven assists.
